How to set up a no dig garden in home gardens, allotments and smaller market gardens, looking at different methods and techniques. Explores best mulches, keeping the plot weed-free, sowing methods, composting, plant foods, harvesting and more.
5 p.m. The Creative Kitchen – seasonal plant-based recipes for everyone €10
A practical talk on how to use seasonal produce from the garden in the kitchen. Covers cooking, recipes, tips for preserving and using gluts, and much more.
6.30 p.m. Garden Supper Club €40
A three-course farm-to-fork seasonal supper club hosted by Stephanie Hafferty in an al-fresco setting (or under cover if necessary!). The menu is inspired by Hafferty’s Creative Kitchen recipes, using produce from Shankill Castle’s Organic Farm and Walled Garden, and local suppliers. Accommodates both plant-based and omnivore diets.

Award-winning author and leading expert in no-dig gardening, Stephanie Hafferty has been growing using no-dig methods for 14 years and growing her own food for over 30 years. She has grown organically year-round in allotments, back gardens, on private estates, for restaurants, art galleries and market gardens, and is currently setting up a new no-dig homestead in West Wales.
In 2021 Stephanie co-designed and project managed the RHS No Dig Allotment Garden at Hampton Court Garden Festival, and featured in the BBC coverage of the event. A garden and food writer, and educator, she writes for national and international publications, and speaks widely about no dig, homesteading, growing your own affordably – and what to do with all of that gorgeous seasonal produce!
