Dermot O’ Neill

He has served on the Council of the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland and was a founding committee member of the Irish Garden Plant Society.

With over 20 years-experience in broadcasting and lecturing, Dermot’s programmes combine his proven knowledge of gardening with a fun and accessible presenting style. He is a regular columnist with the RTE Guide and a gardening presenter on Newstalk with Pat Kenny.

Dermot is the author of many books including Dermot Gardens, Discover Gardening and the acclaimed Roses Revealed. Dermot has visited gardens all over the world and has guided many tours to some of the most beautiful gardens, including those of South Africa, Thailand, China and many European gardens.

Rathvilly Garden CentreRathvilly Garden Centre is a family run business, operated by Dermot Byrne who prides himself on offering a comprehensive range of home-grown bedding plants and shrubs for the gardening enthusiast. The garden centre features a range of bulbs, seeds, garden tools and a large selection of trees, shrubs, container pots, fruit trees, outdoor pots, moss peat, trellis and fencing. There is a strong emphasis on “growing your own” with a vegetable exhibition area. Trained and experienced staff will give advice on all gardening queries.
