Talk 1: Community Gardens – Health and Well Being Benefits 2 p.m.

With a background in social and therapeutic horticulture, Fiann Ó Nualláin has extensive experience in creating community gardens as an outreach horticulturist working across Dublin and Leinster.

In this talk Fiann will explore the health and well-being benefits of gardening and the bridge building that happens within community spaces.

Talk 2: Plant Safari Walk 4 p.m.

In this plant safari walk around An Gairdín Beo, Fiann presents both vegetables, native species, medicinal herbs and other plants grown on site to explain their health benefits.

Have your notepad and questions ready to solve those garden problems you may have and to tap into Fiann’s wonderful expertise on human health.

Fiann Ó Nualláin is a long-time proponent of gardening for health and wellbeing. A horticultural therapist by profession and a community gardening advocate for over two decades, he is the author of several bestselling gardening and health books. He is also a regular on TV3’s Ireland AM to chat about foods and herbs for physical wellbeing and illness management. Most gardeners will know him from Bloom and his RTÉ series with the late Dermot O’ Neill. Fiann writes a weekly gardening column in the Irish Examiner and blogs about natural cures and practical herbalism at His latest book By Time is Everything Revealed is a collection of life strategies and mindful techniques to better cope with the vicissitudes of life and maintain mental wellness.
