Botanical Art Workshop
Celebrating Snowdrops
February 8th – February 9th 2019, 9:00 am, Burtown House
Celebrate the arrival of Spring with this two-day botanical art workshop painting snowdrops with award – winning artist, Shevaun Doherty.
Burtown House is the family home of one of Ireland’s greatest botanical artists, the late Wendy Walsh, and the spectacular display of beautiful snowdrops that appears in her garden each spring continues to delight artists and garden enthusiasts.
This workshop will teach you the various watercolour techniques needed to capture the delicacy of snowdrops. We will begin with observational drawing and tonal studies, before moving on to creating layers of colour in wet – on – wet, glazing and dry brush to convey realistic light and form. An experienced tutor, Shevaun will demonstrate her painting techniques as well as giving practical advice on how to set up botanical subjects for painting, how to choose the right colours, and how to finish and present your artwork.
Whether you are a beginner or simply wish to improve your painting skills, this class will encourage and inspire you to paint.
Class numbers are limited to ensure that each person gets individual support.
