The Meadows with June Blake
June Blake’s beautiful garden in west Wicklow features painterly planting and an artist’s eye for attention to detail. It’s fitting therefore that June leads this tour around the garden of the great artist and painter Philippa Bayliss. The concept for this garden was based largely on the 17th century Chinese landscape paintings and so expect lots of jagged rocks, delicate planting between rocks and into gravel, small trees and a recently installed stunning sculpture of a seed head. Visitors are promised lots of ideas that can be recreated in different contexts in a small space of a 1/4 acre. Philippa shares her home and paintings with visitors so feel free to browse around and explore her studio.

My Life in Gardens – this exhibition features large scale paintings from Philippa’s previous and present gardens in Myshall, Bunclody and Ardclough, County Kildare. The large light filled space is ideal for showing these works, one of which is nine feet long and four feet high – the sheer scale and vibrancy of colour is guaranteed to impress the visitor. First came the gardens and then the paintings.
Running during the month of July at Fine Framers, Wexford Road Business Park, Carlow.
