Diarmuid Gavin at Arboretum Home and Garden Heaven

A romp in my garden

Diarmuid Gavin

It’s not often that you get the chance to hear in detail the process and nuances involved in creating an award-winning garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. Fresh from his silver gilt medal for his rather daring and talk of the show masterpiece – Harrods British Eccentric Garden – this workshop is a great opportunity to hear all about Chelsea itself and the work involved in presenting a garden to such high standards. Hear about the Italianate pond, genteel terraces and topiary, the garden shed and of course the wonderful engineering that saw the box balls and bay trees move every 15 minutes. All of this accompanied by excellent photography tracing the design and build of the garden from start to finish. On the night Diarmuid will be joined by two doyennes of the international and Irish gardening scene – Helen Dillon and Carmel Duignan – who helped create this masterpiece and who will also contribute to the Questions and Answers session at the end of the talk.
